Michael Stern Presents at the PA/DE ASLA Annual Convention

PITTSBURGH, PA – Michael A. Stern, ASLA recently presented “A Tale of Three Cities” on March 18 at the 2005 Annual Convention for the Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Michael spoke to his peers about planning and urban design projects in three different communities in Western Pennsylvania. He outlined the different community revitalization efforts each city is implementing to overcome over 50 years of de-urbanization. Michael Stern is a principal at Strada where he has been involved in many of Pittsburgh’s major urban design and planning efforts. He served as the project director and urban designer for the Department of City Planning on the Pittsburgh Downtown Plan, the first comprehensive master plan for the greater Downtown area in 35 years. Other recent projects include the Pittsburgh Regional Parks Master Plan, the Downtown Bedford Revitalization Plan, a downtown revitalization plan for Washington, PA, and the plan for the revitalization of Pittsburgh’s Fifth and Forbes retail district. Michael has lectured widely and published and edited numerous articles and journals on urban design and landscape design theory. Strada, an architecture, interior design, landscape, and urban design firm, is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Strada embraces projects that create places for people including academic buildings, master plans, mixed-use urban developments, corporate offices, and retail spaces.
