- Ed Shriver Partcipates on CMU Advisory Board
PITTSBURGH, PA – Edward A. Shriver, AIA was recently asked to serve on a Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) advisory board to discuss the retail revitalization of Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood. The Hill District is an inner city neighborhood that was thought to be a poor retail market. However, recent research at CMU revealed that this neighborhood has five times as much purchasing power per square mile as Monroeville. The board was formed at the request of the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management and includes other experts in banking, development, retail and community development. The first meeting on September 23 was organized by the Heinz School and discussed how to leverage this purchasing power data to help attract a new grocery store to the Hill District. Ed Shriver is a principal at Strada where he is involved with many of Pittsburgh’s retail, corporate, and mixed-used design and planning efforts. He served as the principal in charge of Continental’s renovation of the Galleria in Mt. Lebanon, and is currently leading the new Equitable Corporate Headquarters and Del Monte Foods Pittsburgh Office projects on the North Shore. Ed Shriver has been planning and managing architectural and master planning projects for corporate, developer, and institutional clients throughout the United States for over twenty-five years. Building types include corporate offices and support facilities, department stores, local and regional retail centers, distribution centers and data centers. Strada, an architecture, interior design, landscape, and urban design firm, is located in the Pittsburgh Cultural District and was founded in 2000 by Alan J. Cuteri, AIA, Edward A. Shriver, Jr., AIA, CCS, John A. Martine, AIA, and Michael A. Stern, ASLA. Strada employs 18 creative and passionate individuals who value knowledge, collaboration, and creativity.
