Strada Announces New Project in Westmoreland County

PITTSBURGH, PA – Strada and Rycon Construction were recently selected by the Westmoreland Development Council as the design/build team for a four-story 64,000 s.f. addition over the existing Courthouse Square Extension. The design will connect the existing Annex via a walkway over Pennsylvania Avenue from the new second floor to the first floor of the existing Westmoreland County Courthouse. The new space will allow Westmoreland County economic development groups and agencies to reside in one location. Construction is expected to be completed by April 2007. See attached renderings

The Westmoreland Development Council, formed in November 2005 as an umbrella organization to coordinate economic development activities, is comprised of the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation and the Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland. Founded in 1983 by the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners, the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC) is a non-profit corporation that promotes economic development in Westmoreland County with a major focus on developing industrial parks. To date, WCIDC owns and operates 14 industrial parks strategically located throughout the County housing more than 110 companies that employ over 7,000 workers. Formed in January 2000, the Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland (EGC) provides the private sector leadership to develop business opportunities and financing that creates and retains quality jobs in Westmoreland County and the region. EGC has assisted financing projects totaling more than $68 million with a total investment of $220 million. These financial packages have created 2,000 new positions and retained more than 8,000 jobs in Westmoreland County.
