About Strada

Strada means “street” in Italian. Streets matter to us. They’re the fundamental infrastructure of our cities and the core of our civic lives. They’re the connections between buildings, people, and public spaces. This is why we’re so inspired by them and it’s a shared commitment to these values that brought our principals together. Just as people mingle on city streets, our office is a place where we freely exchange ideas, challenging and inspiring one another to create exceptional work.

At Strada, we create physical connections that forge social connections

Led by a team of seasoned professionals, Strada is a cross-disciplinary design firm where architects and interior designers regularly collaborate with urban designers, landscape architects, and graphic designers to create places that people truly enjoy.

About our firm

Strada’s professionals are more than a group of designers; we are trusted advisors. Our individual experiences are deep and wide-ranging. Combined, we have broad resources and talents that give us the flexibility to design any type of building and resolve nearly any challenge.

Our clients tell us that they value our hands-on involvement from start to finish. With high standards for design, and visionary leadership, we have assisted a wide array of clients, from universities and cultural institutions to commercial developers, and everything in between.

A touch of history

Strada was founded in Pittsburgh in 2000 by four colleagues with a shared commitment to vibrant places. Their work took shape in projects throughout Pittsburgh—downtown at Market Square Place, on the North Shore at Rivers Casino Riverfront Park, and across the East End at Bakery Square and East Liberty Place.

In the summer of 2013, UJMN Architects + Designers joined Strada. Founded in 1967, the Philadelphia-based firm earned a distinguished reputation for its award-winning expertise in architecture, adaptive reuse, sustainable design, and museum and exhibit design. Notable projects included Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell Center exhibits, the LEED-Platinum Friends Center Renovation, the Pennsylvania Port of Technology at the Science Center, and La Salle University Center for Science and Technology.
