Oakland Streetscape Improvements

New design guidelines were established for streetscape improvements to the Forbes Avenue corridor through Oakland, with a particular focus on the Business District and Atwood Street. The goal is to establish a clear sense that Forbes Avenue links and unifies all the different parts of Oakland, while allowing the various institutions and districts their own identities. This project has spanned many years and multiple phases and involved the active participation of a diverse group of Oakland stakeholders including business people, city officials, and representatives of the surrounding institutions. Several phases are now being implemented.
