Client: The Allegheny West Civic Council
The preservation and restoration of a continuous row of historic rowhouses in the North Side neighborhood of Allegheny West proved to be a challenge to the developer. The redevelopment strategy was to restore the facades of the houses as an incentive and allow the individual homeowner to reconstruct the interiors. This neighborhood is a City of Pittsburgh designated historic district as well as listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Designed by John Martine while a principal at IAS.
