Integrated approach
Strada's commitment to urban regeneration — one of our core values — supports a sustainable future. Smart, compact developments are the most effective at reducing carbon emissions and other environmental impacts, and our designs adhere to this approach. Our firm is organized to optimize green practices because:
- Our expertise encompasses architecture, interior design, planning, and landscape architecture, and so our sustainable approaches are comprehensive, holistic, and creative.
- We understand the value in adaptive reuse of existing buildings, interiors, and sites. It is always more sustainable to use what is already there than to build from scratch.
- Our core consultants understand our sustainability goals and consistently help us develop and implement innovative solutions.
Strada designs to LEED standards
Sixty-five percent of our staff are LEED accredited professionals, and we have designed and built numerous LEED certified projects. Even if our clients choose not to pursue LEED certification, we are committed to creating sustainable, affordable, and well-designed projects every time.
We exercise sustainability
We don't just preach sustainability — we practice it. Both inside and outside of our office, we decrease our environmental impact by:
- Working in downtown Pittsburgh. 74% of our employees use public transit or bicycles to get here.
- Using a car sharing service for office-related travel.
- Encouraging staff to work toward LEED accreditation, and to continually increase their knowledge of the best practices.
- Recycling paper, plastic, glass, and cardboard, and using a municipal-supplied water cooler.
